High Arctic Lodge

Canada’s last frontier, the land of the midnight sun!  This fishing and hunting lodge is located on Victoria Island, 300 miles north of the Arctic Circle, with its hundreds of beautiful lakes and rivers, home to the world record Arctic Char, Lake Trout and one of the most exotic animals, the prehistoric Muskox. 

Lodge is built on a point of land which provides a protected harbor for floatplanes.  Main lodge building contains central washrooms and showers, a fishing tackle and liquor store and a kitchen and dining room.  There are 6 comfortable, heated guest cabins of wood construction.   Located near the river inlet which forms part of a series of lakes stretching over 90 miles, the whole system is teeming with arctic char and lake trout. 

There are also 2 outpost camps with a kitchen and dining cabin, and a comfortable guest cabin situated on top of the world, 300 miles from the magnetic North Pole.  

Current operators start their season around the first of July with naturalists then move into fishing July 15th to August 15th, hunting begins August 15th and runs through the first of September. This operation generally takes 60 fishermen and 40 to 45 Muskox hunters.  These numbers and the short season equal good profits.

Thousands of square miles of barren lands with no human inhabitants, exotic beauty of crystal clear, unpolluted lakes where you can spot the fish from the aircraft, along with herds of musk-oxen and caribou, Arctic flowers adorning the countryside and ancient campsites and caches, dating back to the times the Inuit emigrated from Asia.  Where else in the world is nature so wild and untouched?  This is a wilderness experience that is a joy to behold.
