Desolation Sound Trapline

This trapline is set amongst the Coastal Mountains in some of the most spectacular scenery you will find in BC and all within a short distance of Campbell River or Powell River.  This trapline is boat access only, however, that is part of the charm and the remoteness you will find here.  The trapline itself does not touch the ocean, however, a short walk inland and you are within your line.  Three kms from the water and you will find a permitted cabin set on the north side of the valley catching the warm sunshine and overlooking the Quatam River and up the valley to the prominent Mount Doogie Dowler.  The cabin has a covered deck with bbq, so you can sit out during any weather and take in the stunning views.  The cabin is set along an old logging road that runs up from the beach; stage a vehicle at the beach and utilize the vehicle for trapping and accessing the cabin.  Actually, there is an ATV and utility trailer included in the sale which could be used to access the cabin, as well as facilitate your trapping!  Being situated so close to the ocean you will not experience heavy snowfall, so an ATV with chains is all you need to trap all season long.  There is an ATV shed at the beach to lock up your equipment while you are gone.

The 2 bedroom cabin is well equipped and cozy.  It is well built (critter-proof) and sits up off the ground with power provided through solar/inverter and generator.  The cabin is fully wired, so just plug your generator in and go or run off of solar!  It comes fully furnished, with a kitchen stove, all cookware and utensils, wood stove and even TV and CD player!  There are 3 outbuildings: a bathroom with flush toilet, a skinning/tool shed, and wood shed.  

On top of having a cabin that is well kept, maintained and ready to go, you also have equipment included, as well as some traps making this a true turn key operation.  It’s a fairly straight forward trapline with access to 14 kms of logging roads; there is a 10 km stretch of traps along the drainages and the river.  The area holds excellent marten, wolf and some cats, as well as the other critters you would expect to see here.  Of course, as a bonus, it boasts some of the best salmon fishing in the area, as well as excellent blacktail deer and goat hunting!  There’s even an old strip at the beach which could be resurrected for the pilots out there!
